Meaning of 1349?

I have been wondering that for some time now, and since i havent found anything useful i thought to ask it here. Most of you probably know the band, and there is also a song called 1349 by some other band (i dont remember the name right now). So it surely means something... Does it mean the year 1349??? If so, why?

I would think so yes, probably some really tr00 event happened that year..

"Could you tell me and our readers what 1349 mean????

1349 was the year the Black Death came to Norway, wiping out 2/3 of the population and ending the golden age of Norway. A truly dark year."

I find it abit weird to call your band 1349, when the lyrical themes got nothing to do with the Black Plague/Yersinia Pestis.

1349 is pretty original i think, its not like you see a black metal band with only numbers as their name..

Plus the black plague was grim as fvck.

Better then a name like say dark funeral... probably the most un-original name in history, but a good band none the less.

i think the lyrics has alot to do with the name, keep it open minded

In the year 1349 there occurred the greatest epidemic that ever happened. Death went from one end of the earth to the other, on that side and this side of the sea, and it was greater among the Saracens than among the Christians. In some lands everyone died so that no one was left. Ships were also found on the sea laden with wares; the crew had all died and no one guided the ship. The Bishop of Marseilles and priests and monks and more than half of all the people there died with them. In other kingdoms and cities so many people perished that it would be horrible to describe. The pope at Avignon stopped all sessions of court, locked himself in a room, allowed no one to approach him and had a fire burning before him all the time. Quite interresting reading there, though I don`t take all of it as good fish. What`s the source? And what`s with you Jews and selfpity??

Well, my history knowledge is abit rusty, but didn`t the Nazis surrender already in 1944?

Most NSMB have the IQ of a rabbit, so it's just twice as good to name it falsly... And as far as my historical knowledge's going, I always thought Hitler kept fighting untill the alliences has reached his Berlin and distroyed all opposition. No?

Well I guess you are right about the first one

The second one too, but I think Russia reach Berlin in 1944, but the war kept on untill USA nuked Japan in 1945. Not 100% sure though...
