Arrow Satyricon, Taake, Ulver, Fleurety, Opeth,...

Do you like these bands?

Then you must check out my project GORATH. Modern Black Metal.

Active since '95 but just recently released their second demo cd, which is fully downloadable at http://get.to/gorath. This is not meant as spam, but I'm anxious to get a lot of feedback! Don't forget to sign the book of hell as well

Well Filip, I checked out the 3 songs on MP3.com and I think it sounds quite good, honest.

You manage to create the right atmosphere for this kind of music and the riffs etc. are definitely nice. The influences are really obvious sometimes, but this definitely has potential. Keep it up .

hmmm... quite good in fact, the guitar seemed rather inspired by Mayhem`s A Grand Declaration of War, but besides that I don`t see any need mentioning all the other bands

I covered Countess Bathory of VENOM. And uhhh... I guess you never heard of all the band I mentioned in the first threat of the topic. It's highly influenced by SATYRICON, EMPEROR or old ULVER. Just read the reviews on my site, I'm not the only one saying it!

Well, I`ve only hear one song so my foundation for given a judgement is rather thin of course, but I got the complete collection of Satyricon, Taake (including the promo and demo), Emperor and Khold (including Tulus era), but still I didn`t find any unique similarities to those bands and the song I listened of your band.

It seemed more to me like you mentioned all those bands in the topic title to draw more attention, then forinstance just writing Gorath would have drawn.

You're right about the attention, but I'm right about the similar artists! You may have each album of the bands I mentionned, I guess you never listen to those albums!

Some quotes from 'zines:

LORDS OF METAL (HOL):
The Gorath sound is closely related to that of bands such as Satyricon, Fleurety, old Dodheimsgard, old Emperor and probably Ulver.

DEATHMETAL.BE (B):
Furious black metal storm with Emperor alike riffs and an acoustic interlude reminiscent of Sweden's Opeth. Successive track 'Suppress my Grief' sets tone for the upcoming brutality of the last track. 'Lake' combines the up-tempo blasting of Dark Funeral with epic mid-tempo parts in true Satyricon style.

LUNAR HYPNOSIS (USA):
Influences seem to range from Emperor, Immortal, Darkthrone, Satyricon, and so on.

DARK CITADEL (B):
The music reminds me a lot of Satyricon, Panchrysia, Taake,... things like that.

LIVE 4 METAL (ENG):
...fuses the likes of Satyricon, Opeth, Dark Throne and many other Black Metal luminaries.

POSSESSED (GER):

VAMPIRE MAGAZINE (HOL):
So black metal fans all over the globe do not let this one pass you certainly not if you're into SATYRICON, old ULVER,...

METAL DOMINATION (GR):
They move in the paths of early Satyricon, Ulver, Emperor or even Dimmu Borgir sometimes.

...

All those reviews spoke rather abstract and in general, there is no depth or spesifiction in them. Sounded like trend commercial actually. "Fan of Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon, Cradle of Filth, Emperor etc buy this!!!"

A better way to do it might been if you pointed out parts/song of your band and reffered to one of the bands.

Honest feedback is you guys are pretty darn good, but i'd say a little more originality could be prevalent and maybe a little less obvious with the influences... but the potential is very high, keep it up!
